Habitat & Conservation

In continuing our habitat and conservation practices, we support the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation  Department. The following excerpt is from the a recent email sent by the department.

"The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation division’s budget also increased by $10,000 after a donation of $2,500 from the Indian Territory Chapter of Quail Forever. The funds from the donation will be used with other donations from the National Wild Turkey Federation and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to enhance quail habitat at the Spavinaw WMA. It will also be matched with funds from the Wildlife Restoration program, which operates in the same way as the Sport Fish Restoration program when sportsmen purchase firearms, ammunition, bows and arrows and certain types of hunting gear."

ITQF Tractor and Trailer- In an effort to further it's conservation mission, ITQF recently invested in a Tractor and Trailer combo that can be used by it's members for Quail Habitat Conservation. In addition, the Tractor will be used on the POWER and CO-OP burn programs. The investment for this great resource has been made so please take make use of it by contacting the Chapter President.

Controlled Burning- A great method of creating/conserving habitat for the Bob White Quail is by performing controlled burning. The Indian Territory Chapter has conducted a number of controlled burns in Oklahoma. Pictures of the burns are below .
